爱尔兰利莫瑞克大学招收电子及计算机工程系博士后
LOCATION: Department of Electronic & Computer Engineering
REPORTS TO: Project Leader
CONTRACT TYPE: Specific Purpose
QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in Physics, Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To carry out experimental and theoretical/modelling research on quantum-dot semiconductor optical amplifiers for all-optical signal processing applications in ultra-fast optical communication systems.
DESCRIPTION
The Optical Communications Research Group (OCRG) group at the University of Limerick has received funding from Science Foundation Ireland to carry out theoretical and experimental work on Quantum-Dot Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers (QD-SOAs) and is seeking to employ a postdoctoral researcher.
More information on the OCRG can be found at www.ocrg.ul.ie.
The project is carrying out theoretical and experimental research on QD-SOA characterization, pulse amplification, slow-light, wavelength conversion with particular applications to phase modulated optical transmission systems using Differential and Differential-Quadrature Phase Shift Key (DPSK, DQ-PSK) data. Two PhD students are currently employed on the project. Specifically the postdoctoral researcher will carry out modeling and experimental research on QD-SOA optical pulse amplification and interact with the postgraduate students. The QD-SOAs are supplied by the Tyndall National Institute, Ireland and Alcatel-Thales Research Laboratories, France and the pulse characterization work will be carried out in collaboration with Dublin City University.
Essential Requirements
• The candidate will have a PhD in Physics, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
• The candidate should also have some well-recognized journal publications.
Desirable Requirements
• In particular experience in optical communication systems and/or photonic device modeling/ characterization is desirable.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team are also desirable.
