The newly-formed Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment at the University of Western Sydney conducts fundamental and applied research in a range of areas that include soil microbiology, plant-soil interactions, genomics and bioinformatics, plant physiology, climate change biology, and plant-environment interactions.

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Microbial Ecology is available for an active, dynamic individual with expertise in soil carbon and green house gas analyses, and/or molecular microbial ecology research. The candidate will conduct research into the microbial modulators of soil carbon storage under grain-based farming ecosystems. The successful candidate will therefore require both molecular microbial ecology skills as well as skills in establishing laboratory microcosms.

The position is funded by a Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) grant and is available for 3 years with the possibility of extension thereafter pending funding availability.

The position will be based at the Hawkesbury Campus at Richmond, New South Wales, Australia.
