We are looking for a highly motivated Ph.D. graduate to join our group as a Postdoctoral Associate. The candidate will work in the laboratory of Rui Chen at the Human Genome Sequencing Center at Baylor College of Medicine where he/she will lead the effort of elucidating the molecular mechanism of novel human ocular disease genes identified by our group. One of the main focuses in our laboratory is to understand the molecular mechanism underlying human visual system disorders. Collectively, ocular diseases affect large population in the world with 40 million people are blind and another100 million with substantial visual impairment. Together with our collaborators, we have recently identified several novel genes involved in human retinal diseases, including Spata7, Cep164, and NMNAT1. In addition, several novel candidate disease genes have been identified using the next generation sequencing technologies that are currently under investigation. We welcome candidates with expertise and interests in applying biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, genetics, and genomics approaches to better understand the molecular function of these novel genes in human disease. Candidates should have a strong background in molecular/cell biology, biochemistry and/or mouse genetics. Please apply directly to 224168JC at www.medschooljobs.org |
