POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS IN BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES

Postdoctoral fellowship positions are available at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina, USA, in a multidisciplinary laboratory headed by Dr. Paulo Ferreira and aiming at i) understanding the molecular bases of diseases with an emphasis on a variety of human disorders leading to neurodegeneration; ii) investigating biological processes and mechanisms underlying cross-talk between intracellular trafficking and signaling pathways, proteostasis and metabolic homeostasis; iii) identifying novel therapeutic targets and mechanisms for translational research. The laboratory employs multidisciplinary approaches ranging from single molecule analysis to molecular, cellular, and physiological examination of cellular systems and genetic mouse models.

Qualifications: Applicants holding a PhD, MD or MD/PhD degree and with solid research backgrounds in molecular and cellular biology, genetics and/or biochemistry and who are interested in working in a strong interdisciplinary and challenging environment are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates must be highly motivated and with an excellent publication record, present strong and independent research and conceptual skills and be interested in developing novel research directions. Applicants must have strong written and oral communication skills in English.
