An immediate opening for computational biology postdoctoral fellow or senior research associate is available in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa. The successful candidate is expected to join an established RNA genomics and bioinformatics group (http://www.healthcare.uiowa.edu/labs/xing/) to study transcriptome regulation and alternative isoform expression in human diseases through ultra-deep RNA sequencing and related genomic technologies. We offer competitive salary and benefits for the candidate based on qualification. The candidate will have the opportunity to access various leading edge genomics datasets and interact with collaborators at the University of Iowa and other institutions for both independent and collaborative research.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research in bioinformatics and computational biology including the development of statistical tools and computational pipelines for ultra-deep RNA sequencing data, annotation and functional integration of epigenetic, transcriptome, protein-RNA interaction and other high-throughput genomic data sets, and applications of computational biology to large-scale clinical transcriptome sequencing data of human diseases including neurological disease and cancer.

REQUIREMENTS:
The qualified candidates should be highly motivated and have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, computer science, or related fields. A proven publication record is essential. He or she should have a strong computational background (e.g., be skillful in at least one programming language such as Perl, Python, or C/C++) and be familiar with Linux/Unix working environment. The successful candidate should have the ability to develop new techniques and apply computational and statistical methods to high-throughput genomic data.
