We are hiring one or two post-doctoral fellows for NIH-funded projects involving novel genetic therapies for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. The ideal candidate will have experience using computer-driven operant chambers to control experiments and collect data. The ability to work with large data sets and write clearly is critical. Other techniques in the lab include PCR, western, ELISA, stereotactic surgery, immunohistochemistry, light/confocal/electron microscopy, unbiased stereology, and a range of behavioral tests to assess sensorimotor function, anxiety, and cognition in mice. Candidates are not expected to have experience in all these things, but the ability to write and implement programs to control operant chambers is important. We are currently using MED-Associates chambers and software, but moving to the Lafayette touch-screen system by year’s end. Send CV to Mike McDonald, PhD, by email (mikemc@tennessee.edu).
