The identification and characterization of novel genetic lesions associated with clinical survival in patients with Splenic Marginal Zone Lymphoma
Location: Southampton General Hospital
Salary: £27,578 to £29,249
Full Time Fixed Term

The Cancer Sciences Unit in Southampton, with over 100 scientists, clinicians and associated staff, has a long and distinguished record in the genetic and cellular analysis of B-cell malignancies. Following a recent award from Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research (LLR) the Cancer Genomics Group is now seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to investigate the genetics of splenic marginal-zone lymphoma using exome sequencing analysis, expression profiling and high-throughput targeted resequencing. This is an exciting project employing state-of-the art technology. The successful applicant will benefit from strong interactions with genomic biologists and bioinformaticians in the Wessex region and a national network of lymphoma researchers and clinicians. This work will expand our understanding of lymphoma pathogenesis and ultimately improve the clinical management of patients with the disease.
You will have a PhD in biological/health sciences and will join an enthusiastic team of scientists with a strong grounding in cancer genetics. You will have considerable experience in the genetic analysis of human cancer using conventional molecular biology and modern high-throughput sequencing approaches. Ideally, you will have some bioinformatics expertise.
This position is full-time and initially for a fixed term of two years. You will be working with a team of researchers based at the Southampton General Hospital and led by Dr Jonathan Strefford. Informal enquiries through Dr Strefford (jcs@soton.ac.uk) are welcome.
