JOB SUMMARY:
Postdoctoral Fellow-PhD position available on NIH Institutional Training Grant.
PROGRAM SUMMARY:
Interdisciplinary postdoctoral fellowship program in translational aspects of genetics, development, molecular biology, disorders and therapies of the liver and gastrointestinal tract. Program goals are to attract Ph.D. candidates to these fields and to provide training in state-of-the-art research techniques. Fellowships are for two years and are funded by an NIH Institutional Training Grant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
*Performs complex, responsible research work of an advanced nature requiring high-level skills and expertise; uses own initiative or supervises others in planning and completing advanced medical or research experiments in accordance with general directions from the principal investigator.
*Plans, directs and conducts research experiments, evaluates and analyzes data, develops research techniques and performs applications required for specific research projects.
*Conducts literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
*Assists in grant preparation and development.
*Documents results of experiments and reports to principal investigators.
*Trains and orients less experienced research staff.
*May supervise, schedule and coordinate the activities of less experienced research staff.
Required: Ph.D. degree in a basic sciences or equivalent and completion of doctoral research and preparation or publication of peer reviewed research articles.
