Responsibilities

An opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary team of biologists, engineers, chemists, clinicians and epidemiologists, focusing on applied research and immediate industrial and clinical applications in systems oncology. The RS/A will be responsible for developing tools and methods to analyze -omics level data. Expertise in expression, GWAS and RNASeq methods is valued, along with an understanding of practical approaches towards genetics (particularly the evaluation of mutations and corresponding structural/functional outcomes). These methods are applied towards key outcomes such as the selection of key biomarker targets, working with a PI with practical expertise in expression analysis, clinical medicine, genetics and epidemiology.

Requirements

As a research scientist/postdoctoral fellow, he/she is expected to independently work on developing methods and applications for bioinformatics analysis. Additionally, he/she should contribute to experimental design, pathway analysis to elicit biologic mechanisms, and the preparation of manuscripts. This position is highly demanding, but support and resources are readily available.

Applicants should have a PhD degree in Computer Science or relevant discipline with a focus on Computational Biology and/or Bioinformatics, and expertise in -omics analysis. Also required is a clear track record of publication and project deployment.

Strengths in R/Bioconductor or Matlab, and scripting languages e.g. Perl, Python.

Familiarity with relational databases, with a good knowledge of statistics.

Candidates with at least 1-2 years of work or related research experience are preferred.
Experience with molecular biology, genetics or cancer research would be very useful.
Experience in additional programming languages e.g. Java, C++ would be desirable.
Familiarity with web application technologies and development is a plus.
