We seek to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher to join a British Heart Foundation funded project investigating mechanisms that are thought to have a profound effect on regulation of blood pressure and blood flow. In particular, the project will examine the role of thromboxane receptors and rho mediated signalling in regulation of calcium-activated potassium channels and endothelium dependent hyperpolarization.
We offer access to state of the art facilities and collaborative links within the Institute Cardiovascular and Metabolic Research (ICMR) which has recently received major investment into imaging facilities from the British Heart Foundation.
You will have:
• Appropriate laboratory experience and expertise with good analytical skills and be able to keep meticulous laboratory notes
• A PhD in Pharmacology, Physiology, Biochemistry or Biomedical life sciences
• Knowledge of areas important to the project e.g. Cellular and Molecular Biology, Cardiovascular biology, ion channel function, or Intracellular Signalling
• Experience in relevant techniques e.g. Cell culture and cell transfection; Western blotting, RT-PCR and immunoprecipitation; electrophysiological techniques; myography
Good presentation and writing skills, an ability to work independently and part of team.
• Be enthusiastic and motivated and have a willingness to learn new techniques     
• Be prepared to work for a short period (up to six months) at the University of Bath as a visiting researcher     
We will provide full training in any areas and techniques detailed above but candidates with post-doctoral experience in these would be at an advantage.
