A postdoctoral fellow position is available at the University of California San Francisco to study the role of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases (PDEs) in epithelial cell function.

The overall goal of the research is to identify marcromolecular signaling complexes that serve to regulate cAMP levels in the vicinity of the Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane conductance Regulator (CFTR) and thereby determine the function of this critical ion channel in health and disease. We hope to develop strategies to target these microdomains of signaling as a novel approach to correct CFTR hypofunction in Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

The successful candidate will be part of an inter-departmental collaboration and utilize a range of biochemical, electrophysiological and imaging approaches towards this goal.

This position requires a graduate degree in biological sciences. A background in electrophysiology or cell signaling would be a plus.
