Job description:
RThe DZNE is a center of excellence within the Helmholtz Association that performs translational research on Neurodegenerative Diseases. The center includes eight high-performing sites in Bonn, Dresden, Göttingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock/Greifswald, Tübingen and Witten. Description: The Neurovascular Diseases Research Group (PI: Gabor Petzold) investigates pathomechanisms in mouse models of neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, stroke, and CADASIL (Petzold et al., Neuron 2008; Stroke 2008; Nature Neurosci 2009). We are specifically looking for a candidate to work on pathomechanisms in mouse models of vascular and mixed dementia. This project will involve techniques such as in vivo imaging (two-photon microscopy and MRI), protein biochemistry, gene expression analysis, laser speckle and doppler imaging, constitutional and conditional mouse transgenics, and behavioral assessment. Qualification: We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a PhD, MD or MD/PhD degree, to join our group as a postdoctoral researcher. The applicant should ideally have a background in (neuro-) immunology or blood flow/stroke research, and should be familiar with biochemical and gene expression analysis tools. Expertise in in vivo imaging, behavioral assessment, and blood flow recording techniques would be beneficial, but are not absolutely required. Fluency in English, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a multicultural international environment are required. For further information please contact Dr. Gabor Petzold (Gabor.Petzold@dzne.de). Employment, payment and social benefits are determined by the Public Sector Collective Agreement (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst - TVöD). Job location is Bonn, Germany. The DZNE seeks to increase the number of female personnel in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply. The DZNE is committed to employing disabled individuals and especially encourages them to apply. Interested candidates should send their applications including a CV, a letter stating research interests and the names and contact information of two references to: application(at)dzne.de
