Postdoctoral positions in analysis of the next generation sequencing data are available in the laboratory of Maga Rowicka at the Sealy Center for Molecular Medicine and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB).
Candidates should have or be close to obtaining a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, bioinformatics or a closely related field and have strong programming skills. Previous experience with analysis of sequencing data or biology is not required. Applicants must be highly motivated, have outstanding analytical skills and be able to learn quickly. Good communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English are also required. Successful applicants will develop new methods and software tools for analyzing sequencing data as well as integrating transcriptomics and proteomic data. He/she will participate in highly collaborative projects with strong experimental component and will have opportunity to significantly increase their knowledge of biology. UTMB a part of the Gulf Coast Consortium for Bioinformatics, which offers excellent cross-disciplinary research and education opportunities in the field of bioinformatics and also includes Baylor College of Medicine, Rice University, University of Texas – MD Anderson Cancer Center, University of Texas – Health Science Center and The University of Houston.
