The Centre for Hearing Research, the collaborative Research Unit (DFG Forschergruppe) FOR 1732 “Individualized hearing acoustics“ and the Institute of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Science at the University of Oldenburg, Germany, are seeking to fill the following positions in the area of Hearing Acoustics (Acoustics, Signal Processing, Medical Physics): 2 PhD students (75% E13 TV-L, 3 years) Model-based signal processing for audio and hearing devices 1 PostDoc (E13 TV-L, initially 2 years) or 1 PhD student (75% E13 TV-L, 3 years) Perceptual aspects of loudspeaker reproduction and room acoustics 1 PostDoc (E13 TV-L, initially 2 years) or 1 PhD student (75% E13 TV-L, 3 years) Monaural and binaural models of hearing and modeling of hearing quality
Description
We are looking for candidates with a Master degree (university) or PhD (depending on the position) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related fields with excellent grades and solid scientific background in auditory perception, acoustics, and signal processing. Familiarity with scientific tools and programming languages such as MATLAB or C as well as good English language skills are required. Research experience in any of the mentioned fields and a strong interest in interdisciplinary and application-oriented work are desirable. The groups involved in this project offer an attractive environment with research covering auditory perception, audiology, digital signal processing, computational auditory scene analysis, new technologies for sound reproduction and sound quality research for automobile and aviation. The University of Oldenburg is known for its wide range of activities in hearing research and offers an excellent environment for a PhD or PostDoc project in Psychoacoustics. Salary and social benefits will conform to the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Lower Saxony Civil Service (TV-L).
