A postdoctoral position is available on studying the neuroimmunology of psoriasis during the response to psychological stress. In specific,the fellow will analyze the phenotype of the Crh-deficient (Crh-/-) mice which have diminished stress response which will be bred with skin specific IKK2 knockout mice that develop psoriasiform lesions. The characteristics of keratinocytes and mast cells isolated from these mice as well as wild type mice will be examined following the development of psoriasis. The fellow will also study the cutaneous expression of CRH, CRF1 and NURR1, as well as the local and the systemic levels of IL-6, IL-18 in conjunction with the level of anxiety/stress and the severity of psoriasis in patients. Experience in in vivo animal models and basic molecular and cell biology techniques, is required.
