Regenerative medicine is a new and developing field that aims to restore function in diseased or aged tissues through either revitalizing existing cells or the transplantation of new cells. Under the leadership of Clive Svendsen, PhD the Cedars-Sinai Regenerative Medicine Institute brings together basic scientists with specialist clinicians, physician scientists and translational scientists across multiple medical specialties to translate fundamental stem cell studies to therapeutic regenerative medicine.

http://www.cedars-sinai.edu/Research-and-Education/Institutes/Regenerative-Medicine-Institute/ has opened a new Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (iPSC) Core Facility http://www.cedars-sinai.edu/Research-and-Education/Institutes/Regenerative-Medicine-Institute/Cores/RMI-Induced-Pluripotent-Stem-Cell-iPSC-Core-Facility.aspx to produce powerful cells capable of making all tissues of the body from adult human skin cells. One of the first to open in California, cells produced by the Cedars-Sinai core will be used in research funded by the National Institutes of Health and the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine. The cells will be critical for innovative research aimed at increasing our understanding of human diseases and genetic disorders, and the quest for new treatments.
Responsibilities include:
• Post-doctoral fellow in molecular and cell biology.
• The laboratory of cellular therapy in Regenerative Medicine Institute is looking for a highly motivated post-doc / associate to study the mechanism of cellular therapy in rodent models for retinal degeneration.
• Technical expertise in standard basic molecular and cellular techniques, including cell culture, transfections/transductions, siRNA, molecular cloning, and animal studies is a necessity.
• Candidates must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, dedicated to science and problem solving.
• An ability to contribute to grant proposals, perform well in a tem is necessary. The successful candidate will make critical research contributions both intellectually and experimentally.
Requirements:
• M.D. or Ph.D.
• Ability to work independently on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI) within area of specialization.
• Acquires thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of research projects and objectives during 1-5 years of post-doctoral appointment.
• Demonstrates aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.
• Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipment.
• Minimal lifting & walking.
