Post doc - Epidemiology – Department of chronic diseases At the Division of Epidemiology, Faculty of common diseases (EPFO), it is available a 3 year commitment as a post doc with a possible extension in the research area of cardiovascular and lifecourse epidemiology. The theme of the project is to elucidate causal factors throughout the lifecourse that explain educational differences in survival rates of cardiovascular diseases. It is possible to stay at a foreign research institution in the course of the engagement.
Description

Responsibilities: In the period of appointment the researcher will carry out a research project funded by the Norwegian Research Council based on data linked from the Norwegian health surveys, family databases and health registries. The researcher will contribute to the development of epidemiological research at the institute with an emphasis on knowledge development in cardiovascular disease, extensive data links, inequalities, siblings and family studies. It is expected that the researcher to the extent that it is time will take part in any of the department's work in research, guidance, counseling and dissemination of research-based knowledge in epidemiology. Qualifications The required qualifications are health related such as medical doctor, social science, biology, statistician or other equivalent academic education. It requires research expertise at least equivalent to a PhD preferably in epidemiology with emphasis on cardiovascular research, or similar areas with experience in one of the department's priorities. Implementation of the project will require good skills and interests to organize and analyze large and complex datasets. It will also be of interest if the applicant has a background in clinical research. Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration and project management is an advantage The applicant should • Be results oriented and goal-oriented and have the capacity for strategic thinking • Be innovative, flexible and have good interpersonal skills • Have the ability to communicate orally and in writing in a Scandinavian language and English
