Salary approx £41,489 p.a. plus allowances
Fixed term for 19 months

A Postdoctoral position is available for 19 months within the framework of the Marie Curie Seventh Framework Programme Industry-Academia Partnerships and Pathways (IAPP). The Commercialisation of Transglutaminase (TRANSCOM PIA-GA-2009-251506) at Aston University, Birmingham. The successful candidate will work in the School of Life and Health Sciences within a team of experts in the field of transglutaminases (TG), to develop and test alternative treatment forms for Celiac Disease and neurodegeneration .This will involve the development of new TG inhibitors and other antagonistic compounds suitable for both determining TG cell function and for future therapeutic use.

Applicants will preferably hold a PhD in molecular /cell biology, biotechnology, biochemistry or a related subject. In addition candidates will need to meet the eligibility criteria of the Marie Curie Actions: (1) that you are an experienced researcher having at least 4 years of research experience or hold a doctoral degree .(2) that you are not a national of the country in which you will be appointed (i.e. the positions are only open for non UK citizens or for UK citizens that have been out of the UK for more than 4.5 years ) - and that you have not been working/studying in UK for more than 12 of the last 36 months. The monthly salary for this post will be paid in UK Pounds Stirling equivalent to approximately €4,525 gross. In addition, the successful applicant will receive a monthly mobility allowance in UK Pounds Stirling to the approximate value of €500 (single) and €800 (family), and a one time payment of travel allowance (depending on distance to home country) and €2000 career exploratory allowance.
