Date Posted:08/01/2011
Application Deadline:Open Until Filled
Job Description
The Center for Biosignatures Discovery Automation seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to perform development of new extra- and intra-cellular biomarkers and biosensors, and nanomaterials-based carriers for drug and gene delivery. In collaboration with chemists, physicists, engineers, biologists and clinicians, the successful candidate will synthesize biosensors based on organic compounds, new drug delivery materials based on biocompatible and degradable block copolymers, characterize the materials’ properties, study the sensors’ response and selectivity, characterize polymer morphologies using DLS, AFM or TEM, and evaluate drug loading and release, biodistribution and specificity.
Required qualifications: Ph.D. in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering or related field. Desired qualifications: Experience in synthesis and characterization of functional organic compounds, block copolymers, and nanoparticles, and experience relating to the functions described above are strongly preferred. Experience producing and testing biocompatible materials for imaging and drug/gene delivery is plus.
Salary and benefits are competitive. ASU promotes equal opportunity through affirmative action in employment and educational programs and activities. All domestic and international applicants who possess the minimum qualifications are encouraged to apply.
Application Deadline: September 4, 2011, then every two weeks until filled.
