A project to study effect of materials and topography on intra-cellular behavior has an opening for a post-doctoral fellow to work in Rutgers University and its affiliated organizations. The fellow will learn, implement and validate the latest biological methods to understand how materials impact cell-signaling and the resulting structural and compositional changes within a cell. The fellow will have an opportunity to explore, develop and implement such molecular biological techniques as microarrays and qPCR to elucidate how cells respond to different substrates that vary in chemistry, mechanics and topography. The fellow will work to integrate this molecular level information with compositional and structural information obtained by other advanced techniques such as Coherent Anit-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy (CARS) and Multiphoton Confocal Spectroscopy. Thus, while the fellow will learn to implement and advance his/her own knowledge in molecular biology; the fellow will also be exposed to the latest advances in the materials field, which in combination with molecular cellular information form the basis for developing new therapies in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
