Job Description
The Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) is an internationally renowned non-profit research institute dedicated to the study and application of systems biology. Founded in 2000 in Seattle, Washington, ISB's goal is to unravel the mysteries of cellular networks and identify strategies that will usher in a new era of P4 Medicine (predictive, preventive, participatory and personalized medicine).
The Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) is seeking a postdoctoral fellow with expertise in human genetics. You will work collaboratively and assist in leading a diverse team of computational biologists and software engineers on experimental design and analysis of whole-genome data derived from human pedigrees with a focus on discovery of variants modifying the phenotypes of complex disorders.
Additional analyses will encompass evolution, population genetics, and basic biology. Our team has an emphasis on neurodegenerative disorders such as Huntington’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease. For a description of recent work of our group, please read PMID: 20220176.
Candidates should have a PhD or MD/PhD with experience in human genetics and computational biology. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to publish high-quality peer-reviewed papers. Creativity and collaboration are fundamental in functioning in this team environment. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential. Candidates should be competent in at least one programming language.
