Postdoctoral Associate (2) -Nutritional and Metabolic Regulation of Reproductive Function
The Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University is currently seeking a two postdoctoral associates in Nutritional and Metabolic Regulation of Reproductive Function.
The first postdoctoral associate will perform laboratory experiments that investigate the effects of obesity on ovarian function during the menstrual cycle. Primary responsibilities of the incumbent include: 1) performing cellular, molecular and biochemical assays on human serum and adipose tissue samples including, multiplex ELISA, microarrays, RT‐PCR, western blots and tissue culture; 2) managing daily operations of a basic science laboratory including, maintenance of electronic study databases and laboratory standard operating procedures; 3) preparing manuscripts and grant proposals and 4) providing training and support for students and other lab personnel. Required Qualifications: PhD, MD with research training, or MD/PhD in Physiology, Reproductive Biology, Reproductive Endocrinology or related field. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working in the area of Infertility, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and/or Obesity and Insulin Resistance. (Job number 15411).
The second postdoctoral associate will conduct research in the area of nutritional and metabolic regulation of reproductive function performing experiments that use ultrasound imaging to investigate ovarian function during the menstrual cycle. Primary responsibilities include: 1) performing ultrasound scans on and drawing blood from human research subjects; 2) managing daily operations of an ultrasound imaging and phlebotomy suite including, the recruitment and scheduling human subjects 3) preparing IRB protocols, manuscripts and grant proposals, 4) analyzing ultrasound images and maintaining a digital image archive and 5) providing training and support for students, visiting scientists and other lab personnel (Job number 15414)Required Qualifications: PhD, MD with research training, MD/PhD in Physiology, Reproductive Biology, Reproductive Endocrinology or related field. Active status with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or ARDMS eligibility status. Experience working in a clinical setting using ultrasound imaging technology. Phlebotomy training or willingness to be trained in phlebotomy. Preferred Qualifications: ARDMS specialty certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology and/or additional clinical experience in Obstetrical and Gynecological imaging.
Compensation: Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s academic credentials and experience. The screening of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
