Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Scholar
Job Number: 4009602 (Ref.#. 1651)
Date Posted: 07/14/2011
Job Description
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in Department of Radiation Oncology at The University of Iowa. The center has CAMPEP-approved medical physics resident program.
The successful candidate will contribute substantially to the application of deformable image registration (DIR) into integrating advanced radiotherapy modalities; image-guided IMRT (Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy) and HDR (high dose rate) brachytherapy. To account for the anatomy changes, currently developed DIR will be implemented. The improved uncertainties and clinical-outcomes (dosimetric tumor coverage / healthy tissue sparing), by using DIR, will be quantified through this project. This Postdoctoral fellowship provides an opportunity to engage with this emerging multi-disciplinary research area involving medical imaging, medical physics, and computer algorithms via collaborating with Dr. Christensen Lab in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
The ideal candidate must be highly motivated and has a strong background in medical imaging, computational science and medical physics. Proven ability to work independently and experience in non-rigid image registration are considered to be important assets for this position. The candidate is also expected to be willing to work in a cross-disciplinary environment. Strong programming skills in Matlab and C/C++ are required. Good communication and writing skills are highly desirable. Applicants should hold (or will obtain within six months of application) a Ph.D. in Medical Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
The application must include the following:
Cover letter highlighting suitability for this position;
Curriculum vitae;
Up to three selected preprints/reprints (papers) most relevant to
this position;
Three professional references.
The one-year position is available immediately. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply online Requisition#1651 at http://jobs.uiowa.edu/. Email inquiries may be sent to Yusung Kim, Ph.D. at yusung-kim@uiowa.edu however applications must be submitted electronically at jobs@uiowa.
