Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
Depending on experience, may be tasked with exploring the occurrence and role in malignancy of potential therapeutic targets, characterizing novel targeted compounds with varied mechanisms of action including kinase inhibition and the impact on cellular oxygen consumption and glycolysis. Characterizing cell lines in terms of potential novel targets and their metabolic needs (Warburg effect) may be an integral part of this endeavor.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Doctorate degree from an accredited college/university in a discipline related to biomedical research. Foreign educated candidates who have completed part or all of their education outside of the United States must have their foreign education evaluated by an SAIC-approved accrediting organization to assure that it has met the equivalency of the qualifications of degree work in the United States.
None required beyond the educational requirement
Experience in anti-cancer drug discovery, or characterization of novel potential cancer therapeutics and with molecular biology and molecular pharmacology methods for preclinical drug discovery/development and cancer-cell biology required
This position is subject to obtaining a Public Trust Clearance
DESIRED SKILLS:
Prefer experience in flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemstry
Experience with in vitro high content or cell-based assays would be advantageous as would an interest or experience in bioinformatic approaches to analyzing micro-array data
Prefer experience in molecular biology and molecular pharmacology methods to characterize the response of cells to novel agents and identify targets and biomarkers, including gene targeting to generate knock-out or knock-in cell models or molecular cloning and reporter assays
Research with kinase inhibitors, modulators of cellular metabolism, and characterization of cells for novel drug targets, or experience working with sarcoma models or small cell lung cancer models would be advantageous
