job description
POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS FOR STUDYING myeloma stem cells and mechanisms related to cell cycle
Many patients ultimately relapse due to development of drug resistance in a stem cell population. Our laboratory have catalogued gene expression signatures from cells isolated from patients with myeloma and its benign counterpart (monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance) to help predict prognosis, drug resistance and identify potential novel therapeutic targets. We are interested in characterizing myeloma stem cells and developing novel therapies to target high-risk genes or signaling.
Postdoctoral positions (3-year, funded by NIH-NCI, LLS and MMRF) are available to work on the application of cellular and molecular approaches to understanding:
Myeloma stem cell characteristics.
Mouse pathology, genetics and development in transgenic and knock-out mice.
Pre-clinical study of novel drugs to target myeloma stem cells and/or high-risk associated genes using in vitro and in vivo mouse models.
Bioinformatic analysis of myeloma molecular atlas including microarray, SNP and microRNA et al.
Applicants should be highly motivated individuals with experience in cellular and molecular biology. Experience in studying stem cell, signaling and cell cycle is highly desirable. Good verbal and written communication skills are required. Applicants with a PhD, MD or equivalent degrees are eligible.Send recent curriculum vitae, statement of research interests and contact information for 3 references to Dr. Fenghuang Zhan; Division of Hematology, University of Utah; 30 N. 1900 E.
