job description
UNIVERSITY OF DUNDEE
COLLEGE OF MEDICINE, DENTISTRY & NURSING
Biomedical Research Institute
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW
Grade 7 £29,099-£35,788
A position is available in the laboratory of Professor Stephen Keyse in the Biomedical Research Institute at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, and is funded by a five-year programme grant from Cancer Research UK. The main focus of our research is to understand the role that dual-specificity MAP kinase phosphatases (DUSPs or MKPs) play in tumour initiation and progression. A research synopsis can be found at the following URL:
http://www.dundee.ac.uk/medschool/staff/stephen-keyse/
The position is available for 48 months initially and is available with immediate effect.
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to study the role of dual-specificity MAP kinase phosphatases (MKPs) in the initiation and progression of cancer (see Dual-specificity MAP kinase phosphatases (MKPs) and cancer. Keyse SM. Cancer Metastasis Rev. 2008 27:253-261). Our work is centered on the use of genetic, transgenic and chemical models of carcinogenesis to study the role that MKPs play in modulating the oncogenic potential of MAP kinase signalling. The successful applicant will preferably have experience in basic techniques of molecular biology, biochemistry and cell culture. Experience in transgenic models and possession of a personal Home Office licence would be an advantage, as would a background in the field of signal transduction.
