The Leibniz Institute for Age Research ‐ Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) in Jena, Germany invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scientist (code number 11/11) to work in a collaborative project between the FLI (Jena) and the MPIMG (Berlin), with expertise in Drosophila genetics.
Description
The Postdoctoral Scientist shall work in a collaborative project between the FLI (Jena) and the MPIMG (Berlin) with expertise in Drosophila genetics and shall have experience with the following methods: fly pushing and fly stock maintenance, balancing crosses, mosaic analysis with a repressible cell marker, FLP/FRT systems, RNAi, Gal4‐UAS transgenesis, P‐element transformation, PhiC31 integrase‐mediated transgenesis, confocal microscopy. Experience with RNAi or P‐element screens, testis and ovary dissection, and Drosophila embryo development analysis would be advantageous. Publication record in the fields of Drosophila genetics, developmental biology or cell biology is essential. The position is available immediately. The contract conditions and the salary will be according to the collective labour agreement for public service employees of the federal states of Germany (TV‐L). The fly experiments will take place at the MPIMG (Berlin), the analysis at the FLI (Jena). The deadline for application submission is 31st August 2011.
