We are seeking to employ a Post Doctoral Fellow within the Reservoir Simulation team of the Reservoir Engineering group. The position will be based at CSIRO Earth Science and Resource Engineering's Clayton Laboratory, Victoria. You will be conduct numerical simulations of the behaviour of carbon dioxide injected into geological storage sites as a means of reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
You will be mentored by senior scientists as part of CSIRO’s Postdoctoral Fellows Program which aims to train early career scientists for a research role
Specifically you will
* Develop a good working knowledge of reservoir simulation software and how to apply it usefully and correctly.
* Perform simulations of potential and actual storage sites.
* Recognise opportunities for innovation and generate new theoretical perspectives by pursuing new ideas and approaches and networking with scientific colleagues across a range of disciplines.
* Communicate results through report-writing, conference presentations and publications in highly respected journals.
Location: Clayton, Victoria
Salary: AU$73K - $80K per annum plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: 36 months

To be successful you will have :
* A PhD in mathematics, physics, computer science or engineering
* Demonstrated ability to solve applied problems, especially with the use of numerical modelling or simulation.
* Demonstrated experience with scientific programming.
* Highly motivated, and the ability to work independently within established guidelines
About the Research Group
CSIRO Earth Science and Resource Engineering provides science and engineering solutions for the continuing growth of Australia's resources industry whilst delivering benefits to the economy, society and the environment. Through participation in the Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Technology (CO2CRC), the reservoir engineering group within the Division is studying underground storage of carbon dioxide.
