Job Description
Multiple postdoctoral positions are available to join a disease diagnostics project conducted by an interdisciplinary research team situated in Whitaker Biomedical Engineering Institute, Institute of NanoBioTechnology and Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Johns Hopkins University. The project focuses on developing novel technologies for genetic/epigenetic biomarker detection of diseases including cancer and infectious disease. The fellows will be responsible for developing and applying micro- and nano-technology (quantum dot, magnetic nanoparticles and microfluidics)-based methods for biomarker analysis and examine the clinical utility by testing actual clinical samples. We seek highly motivated, enthusiastic individuals who have a Ph.D. degree with hands-on experiences in one or more of the following areas:

1. Synthesis, surface functionalization and characterization of nanomaterials such as quantum dots and silica magnetic nanoparticles.
2. Microfluidics (e.g. droplet microfluidics, electrokinetics, high precision micro/nanoflow control, lab-on-a-chip).
3. Biochemistry and molecular technologies (expertise in bio-conjugation, fluorescent probes, nucleic acid extraction, amplification, ligation, fluorescence spectroscopy and FRET).
