job description
Organization Description:
The Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) was established at Kyoto University in 2007, under the World Premier International Research Center (WPI) Initiative launched by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology.
The institute aims to create new integrated disciplines of cell-material sciences based on the cross-disciplinary fields of chemistry, physics, and cell biology, and to become a global hub of career development plans for the world’s brightest junior investigators.
English is the official language of the institute.
For more information, please visit http://www.icems.kyoto-u.ac.jp/.
Job Description:
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who will be involved in developing various nano/mesoscale structures, with emphasis on application to cell biological studies. As part of the multidisciplinary efforts ongoing within iCeMS, there will be many collaborative opportunities available to use such materials for probing and manipulating a wide range of biological systems.
The researcher will be able to interact with world-class scientists from diverse fields, encouraged by the open office space and common laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art research instruments. As a member of a starting group, the researcher will participate in the various aspects of building up a new lab, which should become a valuable experience when moving on to the next stages of their career.
Starting date will be July 1st or later. Initial contract will be for 2 years, and can be further renewed until March 31st, 2015.
For more information, please visit http://www.kim.icems.kyoto-u.ac.jp/.
Requirements:
- Ph. D. degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or other related fields
- Prior experience in synthesizing, processing, and characterizing nanoscale materials is preferred
- Should be able to make scientific discussions in English
Job Application:
If interested, please send curriculum vitae (CV), description of research interests, and contact information of referees to kim-g@icems.kyoto-u.ac.jp.
