job description
Post-doctoral position for research on cell type-specific circuitry and cancer

Specific oncogenic mutations are known to predominate in specific cancers, yet the basis for this ‘oncotropism’ is obscure. Retinoblastoma is a good example of this phenomenon, as RB1 mutations predispose to retinoblastoma but only selected other malignancies. Our studies suggest that cell type-specific signaling circuitry cooperates with RB1 mutations to enable retinoblastoma tumorigenesis (Cell 137:1018). A postdoctoral position is now available to define this cell type-specific circuitry, and to determine how it contributes to retinoblastoma and other RB1-mutant tumors. Candidates should be recent PhD graduates and have no more than two years of post-doctoral experience, a productive publication record, and research experience in cell signaling or cell cycle control. If interested, please send CV, a description of prior research experience, and contact information for three references to David Cobrinik MD PhD, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, cobrinid@mskcc.org.
