Dynamic, highly motivated, and goal oriented postdoctoral fellows are sought who wish to work on exciting projects on developmental neurobiology in the postnatal and adult brain using cellular, molecular, and animal model approaches.
Current projects are focused on discovery and characterization of mechanisms that regulate the development and function of the adult neural stem cell niche, and mechanisms of neuronal proliferation and migration in the postnatal and adult brains. Applicants must have, or will very soon obtain a PhD in cell and molecular biology, neuroscience, developmental biology, or related fields. The ideal Post Doc candidates will have demonstrated expertise with one or more of the following approaches: 1) Primary neuronal cell culture (establishment and maintenance); 2) Molecular and/or biochemical techniques; 3) Mouse genetics, and utilization of genetic mice in cellular and developmental biology research; 4) Time-lapse and fixed confocal microscopy and use of image analysis computer software.
Applicants must have at least one first author publication in a peer-reviewed scientific journal within the last three years. The successful applicants will join a vibrant and productive group of researchers in a well funded laboratory at the Center for Comparative Medicine and Translational Research at the North Carolina College of Veterinary Medicine in Raleigh, North Carolina. The center, college and the laboratory are part of the Research Triangle Park which is a premier and highly dynamic area for biomedical research.
