Postdoctoral Research Assistant
Grade 7: Salary £29,099 – £35,788

We are seeking a self-motivated, dedicated and enthusiastic scientist to work on the following project: “Novell Mechanisms involved in Neurodegeneration” within the Department of Pharmacology. This is a full-time post and is available from October 2011 for 12 months in the first instance.

The research group is led by Prof. Susan Greenfield. The project focuses on novel mechanisms of neurodegeneration, in particular the role of acetylcholinesterase C-terminal peptides responsible for non-hydrolytic actions of AChE.

Applicants must have a PhD degree in biochemistry, pharmacology, neuroscience or a related biological discipline. Experience is required in the following techniques: HPLC, tissue culture (including primary cell lines), and immunohistochemistry. The applicant should also have excellent writing and communication skills, with proven data-management experience.
