The position:
CSIRO ICT Centre, Australian e-Health Research Centre (AEHRC) and the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR) are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate the genetic effects on brain connectivity.

The Fellow will answer the fundamental question: “How genes influence brain functional and anatomical connectivity?” The main hypothesis of this proposal is that using a large sample of 700+ twins who have already been imaged and genotyped, and with the development of a novel set of imaging analysis and visualisation tools we will be able to i) determine the extent that brain connectivity is influenced by genes (heritability) and ii) identify some of the genes involved in brain connectivity. The fellow will develop image processing software in C++ within the software platform MILXview and perform statistical analysis of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) using a large database with diffusion weighted imaging and resting state functional MRI.

This position offers the opportunity to work in a high quality research environment, with strong clinical collaboration. The research scientist will join two large teams (scientists, Postdoctoral Fellows, and students) in an exciting working environment.

Salary: $73K - $80K per annum pro-rata plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered for this position you will have:

-A PhD or equivalent in Medical Imaging/Image Processing;
-Strong statistical analysis skills and analytical thinking;
-Demonstrated competency in C++ (Linux and Windows) and software development processes/environments (including MS Visual Studio, gcc, make, CMake, svn).

About John Stocker Postdoctoral Fellowships:
The Science and Industry Endowment Fund (SIEF) was established in 1926 to provide support for scientific research.
