We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to carry out fundamental research in Dr. Vijay Yadav's team on the factors that regulate bone mass, including the study of new mouse models of bone abnormalities; investigating the changes in endocrine systems and identifying the mechanisms involved. The role will involve evaluating large quantitites of genetic data to enhance the understanding of complex disease and applying these novel insights to plan the next generation of studies of disease genetics. Description

Essential Skills The successful candidate will have specific expertise in bone biology and molecular genetic techniques, with the relevant knowledge of computational tools and a strong background in mouse or human molecular genetics with a Ph.D. in molecular biology or bone biology. In depth knowledge of specific aspects of mouse genetics and endocrine systems is essential as is an established track record of first author publications in peer reviewed journals in bone biology or endocrinology. Ideal Skills Previous experience in endocrine physiology and experience in bone biology would be desirable. The candidate should display that they have the ability to work in a team and to organise their own work and the work of others. Other information Postdoctoral Fellows are typically in their first or second postdoctoral position as part of a period of early career research training. Successful applicant(s) who have submitted their PhD thesis and are awaiting their PhD award to be confirmed will be placed on a transitional pay point, currently £26,103. On confirmation applicants will be moved on to the pay range above. The Systems Biology of Bone Group studies the genes and gene networks that regulate bone cell functions using mice as model organisms. Their long-term aim is to identify therapeutic targets for treating bone abnormalities.
