Postdoctoral Research Assistant
Reading School of Pharmacy
This appointment is full-time, fixed-term for three years and starts 1 October 2011 Grade 6 – £27,428 to £29,972 per annum
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic candidate with an interest in tissue engineering to undertake molecular and cell biology research under the supervision of Dr Che Connon, Stem Cells and Nanomaterials Lab.
The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking research into ‘stem cell templating’ to create a bio-prosthetic cornea. You will need strong all-round cell biology techniques and the ability to work independently and present findings to a group are vital.
You will have:
• a PhD in an appropriate subject area
• experience in cell culturing, RT-PCR Western blotting and biomaterials as well as knowledge of stem cell biology
• ideas and ability to organise and prioritise own workload and build good relationships externally and internally
• strong, clear, concise writing skills for reports and for contributions to scientific publications
• a strong publication record commensurate with your experience
• enthusiasm for applied research
Candidates with experience of extracellular matrix biology, stem cells and/or tissue engineering/material sciences would be an advantage.
