Agricultural and Resource Economics (ARE) at the University of Sydney is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Development Economics who will be responsible for conducting empirical
research on decentralization in Indonesia and microfinance in Bangladesh. The position is based in Sydney, Australia.
ARE at Sydney has been central to the profession of the disciplines of applied economics in Australia, and it has a long standing involvement in international collaborative research projects with other countries, including Indonesia and Bangladesh.
In this position you will:
Perform econometric analyses of household panel data sets on decentralization and microfinance using STATA and related statistical and numerical software;
Write research outputs including journal manuscripts on decentralization, microfinance and other development economics issues;
Assist in reporting on research project activities;
Assist in supervising or coordinating the work of research assistants and research project staff;
Write research proposals to raise funds.
The successful candidate will have:
Ph.D. in agricultural economics, development economics, economics, or related field;
Strong background in development economics and econometrics;
Demonstrated ability to conduct research/scholarly activities under limited supervision either independently or as a member of a team;
Experience in analysing primary data using STATA;
Experience in writing scientific outputs.
The position is full-time fixed term for 2 years, with possible extension subject to availability of funding and satisfactory completion of a probation period for new employees.
Remuneration package: Up to $90,000 p.a. (including 17% superannuation).
