The Global Health group is an international, multidisciplinary research group that aims to improve maternal and child health globally. We are part of Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology. Many of our current research projects are formed around clinical trials, but with significant biomedical, public health, and social science components. By combining the various approaches, we wish to produce new knowledge on molecular, environmental and social events leading to health, test new interventions to prevent or manage certain conditions, and provide evidence on the social, economic, and political acceptability of possible interventions.
We are now inviting applications for Project Coordinator position to work on a clinical trial generating evidence on mass-drug administration (MDA) of azithromycin for reducing mortality of young children in Mali.
Job description
This is a career opportunity for a candidate with experience and interest in global health research. The Project Coordinator will work in close collaboration with international, multidisciplinary team of researchers conducting the Mali trial and other research projects. S/he will support day- to-day aspects of various phases of research projects. The work will involve a significant level of administration as well as internal and external communications, operations support, and general coordination activities with the focus on reporting, budget monitoring, procurement and travel arrangements.
Requirements
The role is best suited for a graduate with a master’s degree in health sciences or a related field. Key competencies include computer literacy, fluency in written and spoken English, French is an asset. We are looking for a profile who is comfortable working both independently, and with other team members. Must be flexible and able to stick to tight deadlines. Can expect occasional travel to some events related to the project. The below kills are considered as an assets:
Knowledge of university administration and research sectors,
Knowledge of research-grant reporting,
Working knowledge of general HR operations and payroll with TAU, and
Experience planning and delivering meetings, conferences and events.
We Offer
The position will be filled for a fixed-term period, until the end of 2021. The planned starting date is 17th of August 2020 or as mutually agreed. A trial period of six months applies to all our new employees.
The salary will be based on both the job requirements and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. A typical starting salary for a Project Coordinator is between 2300-3000 EUR/month, depending on previous experience.
